I had the BEST time taking creative engagement photos at Monona Terrace with Anna + Shane this fall, (Side note, Anna and Shane are already married, but this session was similarly structured to an engagement session and was sort of a "just because" kind of thing). These are some of my favorite photos that I've ever created, so I hope you enjoy them!
The Monona Terrace was designed by Frank Lloyd Wright and has an awesome spiraling concrete parking garage that helped create this magic. Brutalist architecture is my favorite and is totally underrated, so I can’t get enough of all this concrete.
These images perfectly mash up the two things I love. In case you didn't know, I’m an architect* and a photographer! I work full time as an architect* in Madison and do wedding photography on the side. It has been awhile since I have used cool architectural backdrops in my photos, but I’m excited to share a bunch of stunning shots from this session where I was entirely inspired by all this concrete. The concrete parking garage at Monona Terrace never looked so good!
Keep scrolling for some rainbow prism magic, sun flares, moody silhouettes. a fun GIF, Brutalism realness, and a cameo of the Wisconsin State Capitol building. Oh, and the last photo is a 15 image panorama in the spiral parking ramp!
(*I’m not a fully licensed architect yet, but I’m working on it.)
