I spent about 6 months (yes this is a lot of time!!) looking for the perfect wedding dress for my elopement. Even though I was eloping with just my husband in Washington, I really wanted the whole "shopping for a wedding dress" experience where I got to go with my friends and family to try on dresses and find "the one". Rather than buying a dress online and worrying about the fit, I visited a bunch of wedding dress boutiques around Madison to try on dresses. I had a very specific vision in my head of what I wanted. I really wanted a lacy, flowy dress with sleeves and I guess I was just ahead of the style curve so there weren't too many like this available.

I searched high and low throughout southern Wisconsin, Chicago-land, and Minnesota for my dream wedding dress, and I am now an expert on the best wedding dress boutiques to find plus size wedding dresses in Madison, Wisconsin.

I ended up going all the way to Minnesota to find my eventual dream elopement dress at Luxe Bridal. I highly highly highly recommend their shop! They specialize ONLY in plus sizes wedding dresses and instead of feeling bummed that I couldn't fit into the samples I wanted to try, I could try on any dress in their shop that I wanted! This is such a great feeling. You don't want to be feeling body conscious when shopping for the one most important dress of your life. Thanks to Luxe Bridal for my amazing experience. I had a similar experience at Brides by Young in Schaumburg, but they just didn't have the dress I was looking for.

Top tip: even if you are eloping, you can still have the wedding dress shopping and try on experience!
